Local beaches will be tested for E. Coli this week

The Sudbury and District Health Unit will be taking water samples of the areas 34 beaches over the course of this week. The health unit will be checking for water quality, contaminants and bacteria.

The samples will be primarily checked for E. coli bacteria.

Signs will be posted for the public if any of the tests come up positive in the region near Sudbury and Manitoulin. The local health unit says if a contaminant is found staff will be taking daily samples of the area and posting swimming advisories at the affected beaches and areas.

The tests will be updated regularly on the SDHU website.
