Elliot Lake plays host to an economic development corporation

Elliot Lake was host to an economic development conference and themes included how to turn local airports into economic drivers. Mayor Dan Marchisella says one speaker from Parry Sound spoke about how the Georgian Bay town turned its airport’s fortune’s around.

He says it took time, but the Parry Sound airport is a much healthier facility today by taking a long-term approach to its sustainability. He says they started the process in 2007, and have built up a commercial space in the last nine year.

Elliot Lake also heard about the value in creating regional partnerships with surrounding communities that include First Nations.
