It’s bad news for nine employees of Algoma University in Sault Ste. Marie. Eight support staff and one administrator have been laid off in an effort to cut expenses by five percent. Algoma U is expecting fewer students next fall and is making the cuts now to prepare for the downturn. The post-secondary school has approved a budget of $29.1 million for next September.
