New video raises awareness over occupational diseases in the mining industry

The Ontario Mining Health and Safety Association is working with Workplace Safety North and NORCAT to make the mining industry a safer one. The three groups are releasing a video to raise awareness about how workers are affected by respirable hazards found underground. NORCAT’s Director of Training and Development, Jason Bubba, says the video is there to help educate workers about the risks associated with respirable hazards.

The 2015 Mining Health, Safety, and Prevention Review identified occupational disease as one of the top five hazards in underground mining. Sixteen workers died from occupational disease in Ontario in 2015.
