Gelinas pushing for better coverage for cancer medication

Nickel Belt MPP France Gelinas is pushing the province to better support cancer patients. She says the costs of medication that patients take at home are not covered by OHIP. Gelinas, who is also the NDP’s Health Critic, says patients are forced to pay out of pocket for life saving medication, or fight for reimbursement through insurance and Trillium.

Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and BC all cover at-home cancer drugs. Gelinas says it’s time Ontario follows suit, and is asking the Wynne Liberals and extend public coverage.
