It’s a hefty fine for a Mississauga First Nation woman after two moose were shot illegally in the Highway 129 area. The kills took place in October, 2014 and the Ministry of Natural Resources determined the moose were on the roadway when they were shot. The MNR discovered the kills while on a routine patrol and stopped a truck carrying the carcasses of a cow and calf moose.
Using a canine unit, the Conservation Officers worked their way back to the kill site and determined both animals were shot while on the road. Stacey Armstrong was hit with a $2,500 fine for shooting both moose with a high-powered rifle. Officially, the charge was discharging a firearm on a roadway.
