Mantha gets response to fire service query

The mayor of Sault Ste. Marie says his city council is not about to make a move that increases fire risks in the community.  Christian Provenzano  was responding to a letter from Algoma Manitoulin MPP Mike Mantha.  Mantha is worried how outlying communities will be affected once the Sault cuts its fire-fighting staff by 20 people over the next three years.

Algoma communities have Mutual Aid Agreements and Mantha is worried that a smaller department could have problems helping another town.  But Provenzano says council is meeting the legal fire protection services level and council is not putting anyone at risk.
