Police in Moosonee are having a tough time keeping people off the ice of the Moose River. The warm winter has kept the river from freezing resulting in a lot of open water. Fire officials had to help a man 150 feet from shore get back to dry land after going for a walk and getting stuck on the ice.
The man had to be treated for exposure to the cold. In an earlier incident, a man on a snowmobile was stuck when his sled hit open water and he had to test what areas of the ice were thick enough to support his vehicle before making it back to land.
