A motion to rescind support of the Massey Solar Project has been defeated by Sables-Spanish Rivers Township.
The motion to rescind another passed last year giving Potentia Renewables the go-ahead to apply for a 600-acre solar project was defeated in a recorded vote of five to one.
The motion was brought forward by Councillor Mike Merceica who says there has not been enough answers and public engagement to have brought forth the original motion.
He was the sole councillor to support rescinding the original motion.
Other councillors pointed out the project met all the legal requirements under the Official Plan, is at the initial stages and once a concrete proposal comes to council, there will be public consultation and engagement including outside communities.
