Civic Centre leases put on hold

Several concerns has Elliot Lake council holding off on renewing leases with tenants at the municipally-owned Civic Centre.  For example, councillor Norm Mann wants to know why there needs to be a lease with the city-owned museum.  Mann says writing up a lease for the museum is unnecessary work and adds the City doesn’t do this with other departments that are in municipally-owned buildings.

Also concerned about the lease agreements is Tammy VanRoon who says they contain inconsistencies.  The leases are all going back to the by-law and planning committee for further clarification.   Among the tenants at the Civic Centre are the riding MPP and MP.  However no one has to worry about losing their home because the leases will continue on a monthly basis while concerns are ironed out.
