Improper snow plowing bites Sudbury in wallet

Failing to plow Regional Road 35 in a reasonable time 15 years ago, will cost Sudbury $12-million.  That’s the amount a judge has ordered the city must pay a woman who lost control of her vehicle on a snowy day and crashed into a school bus.  The judge said the road was treacherous on November 22nd, 2000 and led to the driver hitting the bus.  The court was told other motorists also had difficulty stopping on the same road that day.   The driver was 20 at the time and the crash left her in a coma for more than two weeks.  There were no students on the school bus and the driver wasn’t hurt.
