Truck to stay in Killarney Channel for about a week more

The threat of diesel fuel escaping from a sunken truck in the Killarney Channel has dissipated.  However it’s going to be about another week before the vehicle can be raised from the channel floor.  The truck, which was hauling silica, slid off a barge last Monday.  A small amount of diesel got out, but was isolated with absorbing booms and the fuel was vacuumed out of the water.  A giant crane from Southern Ontario will be brought to the channel to raise the 45-ton truck.
