Elliot Lake 60th anniversary big success

As Elliot Lake draws the curtain on 60th birthday celebrations, Mayor Dan Marchisella says the year was an unqualified success.  The community’s anniversary as a corporation ended with the Santa Claus parade a couple of weeks ago.  Marchisella says the event generated a lot of community spirit and was very well attended.

He says an amazing number of people came out to watch and one person jokingly asked if Elliot Lake had imported people from out of town because so many parents and children lined the roadways.  Marchisella also says the level of volunteerism in the community was amazing throughout the year.    Marchisella says the City is planning a New Year’s Eve party for kids but not for adults because it doesn’t want to compete with the private sector.
