Clean-up up Killarney Channel continues

Work to recover a truck in the Killarney Channel continues.  The vehicle, which was carrying 450 litres of fuel, slid off a barge Monday morning and sunk.  So far the fuel hasn`t escaped but because it could seep out, residents are being told not to drink or cook with the water.  The advisory only affects people who draw water from the channel and not those who use the municipal system.

The Ministry of the Environment and Canadian Coast Guard are working on a plan to remove the truck.   Meanwhile, officials tested the water near the intake pipes of the municipal system and detected no hydro-carbons.
