Huron Shores looking for feedback on Dean Lake Bridge – remediate or replace

The Municipality of Huron Shores is looking for feedback on the Dean Lake Bridge from the public.
The Municipality held an information session on October 22nd with a recording of the meeting available on their municipal Meeting Recordings page.
Before any decision is made on the bridge, they want to hear final comments from the public by the deadline, this Thursday, October 30th.
The bridge had to be shut down last winter, and was reopened with load restrictions, but a failed culvert in April has once again impacted access to the structure.
The municipality states in its report, council has directed staff to notify the ministries of Transportation and Natural Resources, as well as Transport Canada of the municipality’s legal position and to formally request confirmation of their respective jurisdictional responsibilities related to the structure.
The preliminary costs to rehabilitate the bridge to extend its life for another 25 years is $6.6-million dollars while replacement is estimated at $32.3 million with a life expectancy of 75 years.
Council will host a meeting to discuss the findings soon.
Feedback can be sent via email to [email protected] or submitted at the Municipal Office.
