If there is smoke, there might be fire, and that is where firefighters and the proper training come in.
According to the Northeastern Manitoulin and the Islands Fire Department, this weekend, firefighters from across Manitoulin Island will be in Little Current for hands-on training with the Live Fire Training Trailer Unit.
This is the fourth year in a row the training has been held providing realistic training to volunteers.
Officials say the training scenarios give firefighters the chance to practice interior fire attack, search and rescue, and teamwork under real fire conditions — all in a safe, controlled environment.
The public is asked to stay a safe distance away from the training areas to ensure their safety.
