After a one-year hiatus, a revamped Northern Ontario Agricultural Conference will return to Sudbury in February.
Representatives from the farming communities on Manitoulin Island and the North Shore Corridor will be taking in the two-day conference on February 6th and 7th at the city’s Holiday Inn.
The conference will include keynote speakers focused on agri-business, ministers, as well as primary producers, researchers, students, and industry stakeholders.
This year’s theme is Celebrate the North: Innovative, Connected & Sustainable with a focus on innovation, education, best practices as well as the latest trends and innovations in agriculture.
Registration for the conference will open on November first, and new this year is a bursaries and awards ceremony, and applications are now open for the wider community to apply.

To be eligible, a candidate must be a primary producer actively operating in Northern Ontario, with an innovation that has been implemented or is currently in development, technologies and sustainable practices, or the development of projects set to shape the future of farming.
The winner will receive a $1,500 cash prize and an opportunity to present their innovation at the conference, with their travel expenses covered.
Under the NOFIA Bursary Program, two individuals will be chosen to each receive bursaries of $2,000 toward their postsecondary education or apprenticeship in agriculture or veterinary medicine.
Students must reside in Northern Ontario and demonstrate proof of enrollment to qualify.
