Despite a petition signed by thousands, there is no stopping closing the Beer Store on Manitoulin Island.
Ozzie Ahmed, the vice president of retail for the Little Current outlet says the decision to close is final despite the petition with over 2,000 signatures that was presented to the agency in mid-September.
He says where they sell beer and collect empties in Ontario is changing and that means the decision was made to close some retail locations.
He adds it was not an easy decision and not taken lightly and realizes the decision can make moving ahead difficult for some, but the outlet will close October 19th.
Beer and other alcoholic beverages will be available at various outlets including Lavish’s Your Independent Grocer in Little Current and the Manitoulin Trading Post in Sheguiandah.
