It was a busy weekend of play for two local junior A hockey teams this weekend.
The Soo Thunderbirds skated to a 6-4 victory over the Espanola Paper Kings Friday night in a contest at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex.
The following Saturday evening, the Kings defeated the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners 4 to 2 at Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.
The Timmins Rock won a 6-1 victory over the Beavers on Friday at the McIntyre Arena.
The Beavers came back Saturday evening to defeat the Hearst Lumberjacks in a narrow 3-2 triump at the Claude Larose Recreation Centre.
