Time running out on Dean Lake Road Bridge

The Township of Huron Shores is hosting a public forum this fall focusing on the Dean Lake Road Bridge, but there are concerns the bridge will not be open for winter travel.
The bridge provides access to Highway 17, but with the closure, area users have had to take a detour on the gravelled Chevis Road out of Iron Bridge.
The bridge was closed back in January, after the municipality received advice indicating it represented a danger to users due to age and deterioration.
It was reopened with weight restrictions but flooding in early Spring created two sinkholes and road upheaval, so the bridge was closed again.
Since then, the municipal office has been in talks with upper governments about responsibility but have not released the latest information on their findings.
Citizens will be able to find out more at a public forum slated for October 22nd at 7pm at the Huron Shores Recreation Centre in Iron Bridge.
