Manitoulin Island man charged with attempted murder

A Manitoulin Island man has been charged with attempted murder after police responded to a call in Wikwemikong Unceded Territory.
Manitoulin OPP Constable Berkley Parisien states that on Monday, at around 5:00 a.m., officers responded to a request for assistance from Wikwemikong Tribal Police regarding a knife-related incident on Andrew Crescent.
She says during the incident, one of the First Nation’s officers sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to the hospital by Ornge.
Parisien adds that a 20-year-old from Wikwemikong Unceded Territory was charged with attempt to commit murder.
She adds that the accused remains in custody.
The investigation continues.
