Herbicide spraying of North Shore Forest commencing

The Ministry of Natural Resources has released details of its annual herbicide forest project for the local area.
According to MNR spokesperson Darren Tree, the public can inspect the planned herbicide project for the 2025-26 season.
He says as part of their ongoing efforts to regenerate and protect Ontario’s forests, selected stands on the Northshore Forest throughout the North Shore Corridor will be sprayed with herbicide to control competing vegetation, starting on or about August 18th.
Tree adds the project description and project plan for the herbicide project is available electronically for inspection by contacting Northshore Forest Inc. and on the Natural Resources Information Portal (at https://nrip.mnr.gov.on.ca/s/fmp-online) until March 31, 2026 when the Annual Work Schedule expires.
He says First Nation and Métis communities and interested persons and organizations can arrange a virtual or in-person meeting with MNR staff to discuss the herbicide project.
