Elliot Lake council is continuing its search for two key positions, one of which has been vacant since 2023.
Back then, council contracted an executive recruitment firm at a cost of $34,000 to find a new CAO for the city and appointed Rob deBortoli as interim CAO at the end of 2023.
At a closed session of council, held last year, the CAO consulting contract had been extended by two years to December 31, 2026.
Back in January, council approved another $39k for recruitment of a Director of Finance and a Public Works director.
Andrew Ault, the new Director of Finance was hired in mid-April.
However, the Public Works director and permanent CAO position remains vacant.
