Manitoulin Health Centre welcomes Dr. Steven Daniel as New Chief of Staff

The Manitoulin Health Centre has appointed Dr. Steven Daniel as its new Chief of Staff, effective September 1, 2025.
According to the release, Dr. Daniel will assume this leadership role, succeeding Dr. Stephen Cooper, who is set to retire December 2025.
Dr. Daniel completed his medical education at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine in 2015 and has since been part of the Assiginack Family Health Team, where he will continue to maintain his practice and serve his patients while taking on his new responsibilities at the centre.
Officials say he also contributes as the Lead Physician for the Manitoulin Island Clinical Teacher’s Association Local Education Group while also chairing the Assiginack Family Health Team Board of Directors and the health centre’s Scientific Planning Committee.
The health centre also extends its gratitude to Dr. Cooper who worked for the last 33 years including 13 years as Chief of Staff.
“I am truly honoured and excited to step into the role of Chief of Staff at Manitoulin Health Centre,” says Dr. Steven Daniel. “As a proven leader through my military experience, I understand the importance of teamwork, adaptability, and collaboration, values that are essential in today’s complex healthcare environment. The healthcare system in Ontario faces significant challenges, and I look forward to using my experience to support our dedicated physicians, staff, and MHC team as we work together to improve the health and well-being of patients across Manitoulin Island.”
