Elliot Lake municipal budget passed for 2025

The City of Elliot Lake has passed its municipal budget.
In the last week of June, council approved a 6.964 per cent property tax increase for 2025.
Director of Finance and Treasurer Andrew Ault says the budget strikes a strong balance between keeping Elliot Lake as one of the most affordable places to live while also ensuring a strong financial position.
He says the operational budget is set at (16-point four million) $16,411,214, representing the 6.964 per cent increase.
He says four per cent of it is related to the replenishment of reserves due to some of the stress on them from the arena while the rest of the levy is there for operations.

He adds it continues to support essential services and infrastructure while keeping some room for future growth and long-term sustainability.
Mayor Andrew Wannan thanked council and staff adding “It’s been a tumultuous year with a lot of surprises and delays, but the city is on track.”
