The North Shore Anglers and Hunters Conservation Association is hosting a membership recruitment drive.
Spokesperson Theresa Minten says the association is an organization which started in 1980 and is a local club affiliated with the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters.
She says the main focus of the organization is operating a pickerel hatchery under the Community Hatchery Program which is overseen by the federation and the Ontario government through the Ministry of Natural Resources & Forests.
She says members volunteer their time to run the hatchery in the spring each year with the goal to keep local lakes stocked and keep the traditions of fishing and hunting sustainable for generations to come.
Minton adds they meet about three times a year based out of the Spanish/Walford area, so volunteers are more than welcome to donate time in helping sustain the resource.
