Over 100 Es panola High School Grade Nine students attended seminarsyesterday morning with local business and career leaders from the area.
Deborah De Melo, the Coordinator for the provincial Gateway to the Trades Program, says the idea for the new program is to give Grade nine and ten students an idea of what different careers are available, what the job involves, assisting them in what direction they take in their future education choices.
She says the coach leaders, which included various careers such as journalism, policing, real estate and more met with small groups of students throughout the morning, which included students filling out a survey after the event.
De Melo says her staff will be travelling to Manitoulin Secondary School, their final stop before summer break.
She adds the program will be evaluated over the summer and will resume in the fall.
