Espanola council approves noise bylaw … for construction

Under municipal bylaw, if a company will be making noise during the hours the Noise Bylaw is in effect, they must ask for an exception under the statute.
To that end, Special Projects Manager Joel Yusko appeared before Espanola council on Tuesday evening to ask for the exemption, since the company reconstructing Highway Six in the downtown needs more time to replace the water and sewer lines as well as curbs, sidewalks and the roadway itself to meet the deadlines.
With working earlier in the morning, Yusko says, local residents in the area will be affected by the noise factor resulting from the reconstruction, so the exemption is required.
The reconstruction is Phase Four of the Highway Six Reconstruction Project and will be carried out from Station Road to Tudhope Street.
Yusko adds they will also have to reduce traffic to one lane at times, but that will only take place Mondays to Thursdays since Highway Six is the major byway in Espanola.
Council approved the exemption.
