Elliot Lake city council was informed of budget estimates in the millions of dollars for various projects on Monday night.
That includes over $2m for cladding and lighting at the arena; over $2.5m for HVAC & lighting upgrades at other municipal buildings, and $8.7m for a secondary digester cover at the wastewater treatment plant.
The report was made by Marc Lussier with Johnson Controls Incorporated, which were hired in January 2024 to evaluate and plan the city’s infrastructure maintenance.
The costs being discussed were only for planning and energy-savings upgrades – including the digester.
Council will review the proposed expenditures before making any further decisions adding another updated report is expected by the end of the month.
