Indigenous and non-Indigenous people will gather together today Monday (May 5) to mark Red Dress Day.
The day marks the 15th anniversary of the National Day of Awareness for Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls and 2SLGBTQIA+ People, also known as Red Dress Day.
Officials say it serves as a powerful reminder of the need to recognize and address the violence still faced by many in Canada.
MĂ©tis artist Jaime Black helped inspire the red dress movement, where red dresses are hung from windows and trees to represent the pain and loss felt by loved ones and survivors.
