Suspected cocaine seized after police called to collision in Espanola

One person is facing impaired and drug-related charges following reports of a motor vehicle collision in Espanola.
Manitoulin OPP Constable Berkley Parisien says that on Tuesday evening around 7:30 pm, officers were called out to a two vehicle collision.
One of the drivers called the police back, alleging the other had likely been impaired and had fled the scene.
She says officers attended the scene and confirmed that there were no injuries.
A short time later, she says police located a vehicle on Highway 6 in Whitefish River First Nation, determined the driver had consumed an intoxicating substance, and an arrest was made.
Additionally, police seized an amount of suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $16,300.
The driver, a 43-year-old from M’Chigeeng First Nation, was charged with impaired, dangerous driving, failing to remain at the scene and possession, among others.
Parisien adds the accursed is to appear in Gore Bay Court on April 15th.
