Arson trial continues

A paramedic responding to a fire in Espanola three years ago says there was something strange about how the victim was tied.  The paramedic says the duct tape used to tie David MacIssac was bound too neatly.  MacIssac is on trial for torching a building he owned in Espanola in what the Crown says was an effort to collect on the insurance.  The paramedic also told the court that he found MacIssac’s behaviour inconsistent with someone who had just been attacked.  At the time of the fire, MacIssac told investigators he was attacked and tied up.  The fire destroyed MacIssac’s building and also destroyed someone else’s property when the flames spread to an adjoining building.  That second building houses two apartments and three businesses.  Additional information the court has heard was toilet paper and a flammable liquid was used to start the fire.
