Espanola council has given its unanimous support to a local group to host a voluntary road toll next month.
As the Community Services Committee recommended, the council will permit the North Shore Search and Rescue to hold a voluntary road toll on November 16, 2024, from 9 am to 5 pm.
The toll will be held between the entrance of Home Hardware and the entrance to Canadian Tire on Highway Six so motorists can choose to donate to the organization.
The unit receives no government support, so all funds raised go towards insurance, training, equipment, travel and related costs.
