Former Grand Council Chief seeking Liberal MPP nomination

Former Chief of Mississauga First Nation and the Anishinabek Nation Grand Council, Reg Niganobe, has announced his hopes to become the next Liberal MPP nominee for the Algoma-Manitoulin riding in the next provincial election.
Niganobe has been serving since 2009, when he became a councillor for his home First Nation.
He held the Chief of Mississauga First Nation position from 2011 to 2021 and then as the Anishinabek Nation Grand Council Chief from 2021 to 2024.
Niganobe says he will soon release his platform.
The 44th Ontario general election is tentatively set for June of 2026.
