The National Hockey League has set its date for the pre-season game in Elliot Lake.
The Kraft Hockeyville preseason NHL matchup will be between the Ottawa Senators and the Pittsburgh Penguins on September 29th.
The announcement was made at the NHL Stanley Cup Game 4 on Saturday.
President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas says having grown up in Northern Ontario, he understands how impactful the event will be for the people of Elliot Lake and surrounding area.
In addition to hosting this preseason contest, the Elliot Lake community will receive $250,000 for arena upgrades and $10,000 worth of youth hockey equipment from the NHLPA Goals & Dreams fund.
The details of the preseason game, including location and broadcast timing, are currently being finalized and will be announced later, along with other important community event details.
