Northeastern Ontario Hospitals go digital tomorrow

Northeastern Ontario Hospitals go digital tomorrow

Twenty-three partner hospitals across Northeastern Ontario will push the button tomorrow going digital with electronic medical records for their patients.

Tomorrow, Tuesday June 4th, the electronic medical records of every hospital will be live for authorized clinicians at 23 partner hospitals throughout the northeast including Espanola, Blind River, Elliot Lake, the Manitoulin Health Centre and Sudbury.

North Shore Health Network President, CEO Tim Vine says the hospitals have been working together since 2018 to make the transformation.

He says patients will experience more seamless care in the Northeast as they journey through the hospital system, reduce the need for repeat testing, and help prevent medical errors by providing clinicians with the information they need to make informed care decisions.

The ONE (one person, one record, one system) Initiative is to improve the delivery of health care through the creation of a single electronic health information system (HIS).

They appreciate the support of primary care for providing increased opportunities for non-urgent and non-emergent care visits in their clinics during this time in attempts to decrease the emergency department volumes, as they adapt to the new system.
If you have a non-urgent or non-emergent concern, please contact your primary care provider prior to coming to the hospital. Other resources available include:
