Gas leak at city hall in Elliot Lake

UPDATE: 10 pm, THURSDAY EVENING: Enbridge has sealed off the leak. Repairs should be completed in the next 2-3 hours.
The buildings affected were City Hall, Service Ontario, Hillside Dental and the emergency services buildings. However, there were no interruptions to emergency services during the outage.
Phone and email services at City Hall were interrupted but should be back online in the next 2-3 hours

ALERT: A gas leak has shut down city hall in Elliot Lake.

ORIGINAL STORY: This afternoon, road construction crews hit a gas line and that caused some major disruption with having to shut down electricity and evacuate city hall staff.

City EDO Steven Antunes says the Enbridge is on site as of 4:20 pm and he expects everything to return to normal within an hour or so.

He says anyone trying to reach city hall through the phone will not reach anyone because of the shutdown, but everyone is fine and the situation is being dealt with.

He says they will notify the Moose once the leak is repaired and city hall returns to normal.
