Massey skier sets her sights on nationals

In the competitive world of ski racing, 14-year-old Ava Currie’s journey from the slopes of Mount Dufour in Elliot Lake to the slopes of Whistler is nothing short of extraordinary.

A resident of Massey, she is a member the Elliot Lake Ski racing team and started ski racing when she was six.

This season she placed 1st in the Northern Ontario Division for her age category which earned her the top spot and a ticket to the provincials where she secured a spot at the Eastern National Championships held in Quebec City.

Her performance in both GS and Super G earned her an invitation as part of the Ontario team, which will compete against U16 skiers from Canada and 20 other countries in Whisler, British Columbia April 10th to 14th.
