OPP Search for mother and daughter continues

East Algoma OPP is now working with other police services in the search for a mother and daughter who went missing on Monday.

Constable Bev Gauthier says they were advised that five-year-old Nakina Boyer and her mother Jeanette departed their residence in Mississauga First Nation earlier in the day, adding there was a scheduled appointment they failed to attend.   

She adds the family is known to frequent Batchewana First Nation and has ties to the City of Sault Ste Marie.   

She says they are following up on leads with other police services as well as conducting more interviews.   

Gauthier says the investigation is continuing.   

Nakina is described as indigenous, 4’0″ tall, 80 pounds, heavy build, brown eyes, and straight light brown hair.    

Her mother is described as indigenous, 5’3″ tall, approximately 145 pounds, medium build, brown eyes, and long brown hair.
