Ontario Provincial Police are warning the public that ice conditions are dangerous following another drowning yesterday near Sault Ste. Marie.
OPP Constable Bev Gauthier says shortly after noon yesterday, police and emergency services were called out to respond to a person who was ice skating and went through the ice on Trout Lake in Aweres (Awares) Township.
She says emergency services recovered the body in the water and life-saving techniques were attempted however the person was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Gauthier adds the deceased has been identified as 58-year-old Andre Rausch (Rosh) of Sault Ste Marie.
OPP is cautioning the public that ice conditions are unsafe and people must take caution regarding thin ice conditions on area waterways.
