Staff will be busy over the next while carrying out a study of what properties are available for land development in Blind River.
Town Clerk Katie Scott told council there has been a lot of interest in commercial properties along Causley Street over the last while. Â
She says that interest has prompted the town’s development corporation board to ask council to provide an overall inventory of lots available for development.Â
Scott says there are vacant lots along the byway, but the high cost of rehabilitating the land makes the cost of purchase prohibitive for many developers and some of the properties cannot be sold due to environmental orders.Â
She adds the board is not asking for environmental assessments currently, but rather a report as to what is available for business development.Â
Council approved the request, so staff will now compile the report, which will be presented to council at a late date. Â
