New Comfort Inn being built in Blind River

A new Comfort Inn & Suites is being built in Blind River.

Mayor Sally Hagman says it is good news for the town with the investment being of such critical importance to the town.

She says councils wants local businesses to be busy places all year round, but the shortage of places for people to stay has been difficult.

Hagman says contractors have had to spend their nights out of town, projects delayed because of sold-out accommodations, and tournaments and other gatherings restricted by local availability.

Graham Marsh, National Director, Franchise Development Choice Hotels Canada says they are excited to bring their brand to Blind River and be part of the town’s growth.

The new 72-bed facility will be located at the site of the former Timber Village Museum off Highway 17 with construction to begin soon and a tentative opening in 2025.
