Two men from the Sudbury area facing drugs and weapon charges

Several criminal charges have been laid against two people following an impaired driving complaint made to the Manitoulin OPP.

Constable John Hill says last week, police received a complaint of a possible impaired driver that had pulled into a retail parking lot on Centre Street in Espanola.

He says the vehicle had been reported stolen in Sudbury adding two people were arrested.

Hill says police also found knives and drugs when they searched the vehicle.

He adds a 32-year-old man from Hanmer and a 40-year-old man from Capreol are facing various weapons and drug related charges.

He says the two made bail and are to appear in Espanola court on October 3rd.

The 32-year-old from Hanmer was charged with:

 

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Fail to comply with a probation order
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Driving while under suspension – two counts

 

The 40-year-old from Capreol was charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Cocaine
  • Resist peace officer
  • Obstruct peace officer
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
