It was a busy weekend for junior hockey.
The Greater Sudbury Cubs picked up a convincing 9-2 decision over the Espanola Paper Kings Sunday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League matchup at Gerry McCrory Countryside Sports Complex.
The Kings were coming off of a 5-0 triumph over the Elliot Lake Vikings in a match-up held at the Espanola Regional Recreation Complex.
A three-goal outburst in the back half of the second period helped send the Blind River Beavers on their way to a 5-2 victory over the Powassan Voodoos Friday and Andrey Manov’s power play tally half way through the third period proved to be the game-winner as the Beavers went on to down the Iroquois Falls Storm 3-1 in a match-up on Sunday.
