East Algoma OPP investigating a cruelty to animals incident

A warning to our readers. The following story deals with subject matter that may be disturbing to some.

East Algoma OPP is investigating a cruelty to animals incident and is looking to the public for help.

Shortly after 4:00 p.m. on Aug. 28, officers responded to the incident in the Iron Bridge area, in the Municipality of Huron Shores.

Officials say on a side road off Red Rock Damn Road, officers located a large metal cage covered with what appeared to be a white and green pool filter and a grey canvas tarp.

Under the tarp were carcasses of black and brown dogs, adding it was difficult to determine the number of puppies due to “severe deterioration” of the animals.

Police say no food or water bowls were inside the cage, suggesting the puppies were left to suffer and die. Anyone with information is asked to call the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
