Public Health Sudbury & Districts says an adult has tested positive for Lyme disease.
Officials say investigations indicate it was most likely acquired in the Sudbury East area.
They add although local reports of the disease are uncommon, people need to protect themselves from ticks when enjoying the outdoors – as they’ve been found in the Sudbury and Manitoulin districts over the years.
Officials add to check for ticks after activities like gardening or hiking, saying it’s the simplest way to protect yourself from the disease.
