Provincial fire ban removed, local bans may still be in place

You can finally toast your first marshmallow or hot dog of the summer.

As of four o’clock yesterday, Tuesday, July 11th, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry’s province-wide Restricted Fire Zone has been lifted.

But Forest fire information officer Evan Lizotte says we still can’t let our guard down.

We need to remain vigilant and safe with open flames… so we‘re not responsible for human-caused forest fires.

Be aware that even though the provincial ban has been removed, check with your municipal or First Nation band office to see if an open fire ban remains in place or has been lifted locally.
