Two Espanola area women took part in this weekend’s 28th Annual Gutsy Walk to raise funds for research into Crohn’s and Colitis.
Brenda Houle and her daughter, Lisa, raised $2,700.00 collectively making them the third top team for the Sudbury event.
Houle was unable to walk because of a personal injury but attended the event to support her daughter.
The walk was held in Bell Park yesterday with around 100 walkers raising nearly $30,000 for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, which will support research to find a cure for both diseases.
Around 300,000 Canadians are affected by the two diseases, which inflame the lining of the gastrointestinal tract and disrupt the body’s ability to digest food properly.
