Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Elliot Lake area, with a two-day heat event beginning Thursday. Â
The weather agency says daytime high temperatures are expected to be near 30 degrees Celsius today through Friday. Â
Overnight temperatures Thursday night are expected to be in the high teens, providing little relief from the heat. Â
Officials say cooler temperatures return on Saturday. Â
The weather agency says the risks are greater for young children, pregnant women, older adults, people with chronic illnesses and people working or exercising outdoors. Â
Tips include drinking plenty of water, even before you feel thirsty, staying in a cool place and never leaving people or pets inside a parked vehicle.
