New exhibit opens in Blind River featuring Diane Stewart

A Northern Ontario artist’s work covering nearly five decades is the new exhibit at the Blind River Timber Village Art Gallery.

Diane Stewart’s Journey to Fabric exhibit took over 45 years to gather and put in storyboards for display at the museum.

Curator Ashley Young says Stewart’s career began as a watercolorist and she has found a unique method of textile mosaicking, building depth and texture with hundreds of tiny fabric pieces.

She adds Stewart holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mount Alliston University and has been a member of many professional associations, including the Ontario Society of Artists taking part in so many shows and competitions.

A Journey to Fabric will be on public display at the gallery until July 1, Tuesdays to Sundays from 10 am to 4 pm.
